Ok, well I cant lie….things are suddenly starting to feel pretty damn “real” around about now! I know I do this every time we are getting close to setting off but its just a week to go (WHAT!!!!!) and I have never felt less ready…honestly, this is a ridiculous and stupid plan!

Yes ok I admit I am really excited too but the overwhelming emotions are anxiety and doubt…..I am genuinely not sure I am actually capable of doing what we are about to attempt this time. Regardless of whether I am or not it is absolutely 100% , slam dunk, nailed on, guaranteed to be excruciatingly painful every single second of the way!

Which does of course rather beg the question “why do it then” doesn’t it? Quite frankly beyond the fact that it will be a bit embarrassing (which I reckon I could easily handle) and we won’t reach our fundraising target, I don’t really have a great answer.

Right then…pull yourself together…..histrionics temporarily in abeyance let’s try and focus on something more positive …two exciting bits of news to tell you about….first off news for all you #onlydanfans (you know who you are!)

As you know Dan, our third man in a tent, can’t join us this year (lucky, lucky you Dan!!!) so instead he has been working on his own, no less challenging, fundraising plan for Prostate Cancer UK. Dan plans to row (yes, that’s “row” like with his arms and stuff) on his rowing machine the equivalent distance that Marc and I will be covering by ferry on our trip to Morocco…..basically that means the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen across the Channel, the Royan to Verdon ferry and finally the ferry from Tarifa to Tangier which by our calculations is a grand total of around 240km….around 150 miles in old money.

For the first leg (or should that be arm?) of Dan’s epic challenge he will be at The Orchard Cafe in Worcester Woods (huge thank you to Mark at the Orchard Cafe for the support…you are a hero!) rattling a bucket, giving out TMAAT cards and rowing 60000m (TBH, don’t quite know how he is going to do all those things at once but anyway) pausing only to take on (and presumably off?) fluids and food. He will be there from 845 on Saturday 30 April so please, please, please get along to support him if you can and remember to take all your lose change with you and, for the avoidance of doubt, please put it in the bucket when you get there!

All things being well I will post some pictures of Dan doing his thing on the blog on Saturday but if you get along to see him in person (and why wouldn’t you…I mean look at him?) please do get in touch and share your photos by giving us a mention @3mendandatent or sending them to us direct at threemenandatent@hotmail.com.

In other exciting news Dan’s dad Kevin, the inspiration for our choice of charity this year (read his story here), and the “Up for It” gang are putting on a comedy review show on the 9th July (details below) with all the proceeds going to our fundraising total!

A huge, huge thank you to all those involved, what an amazingly kind thing to do…..we hope you have a fantastic evening and that you raise bucket loads of cash ….thank you!

Well I guess that’s all for now, I better go and practice pack and unpack my panniers for the eleventy billionth time…next time I write it will be the “day of”…..gulp!!

PS - if you are reading this and havent already donated then what better time is there than right now!

If you have already donated then its also a really good time to donate again….go on, you know you want to!
